'Luk, Charles, (Upasaka Lu Kuan Yu: 1898-1978): Translator and Writer on Ch'an. Born Canton, studied with Hutuktu (Tulku) of Sinjiang (a Vajrayana teacher of both Kagya and Gelug lineages) and master Hsu Yun, who urged him to translate Chinese Buddhist texts. Dedicated the last 20 yrs of his life (from 1956) to this cause. Lived in exile in Hong Kong, maintaining a worldwide correspondance. 1st visited Europe in the 1930's - visited London and met Christmas Humphreys in 1935.' (The Buddhist Handbook).
