'In the midst of multiplicity and confusion, the sages point out the unmoving true essence. This is innate knowledge. This is knowing. Though they are subjected to a chaos of myriad influences, they are not confused about right and wrong. Though many desires press on them, they embody purity and illumination. Perfectly adaptive, with no location; perfectly spiritual. with no traces: this is the essence of innate knowledge.
In the midst of the great void, (the true essence) has everything. But it does not abide in any one thing, because if it did, it would be obstructed by the great void. It is never without the influences and responses of the human mind, but it never dwells on them, because if it did, it would be blocked by empty awareness.
Therefore, as soon as anger and delight and fear and worry appear in the mind, the mind does not attain its correct state. Thus the work of keeping mind correct is not a matter of seeking anywhere else: it just lies in making the intent genuine. (The mind's) essence must be aligned with the illumination of the fundamental essence shining through, so it comes to rest in the ultimate good.'
